Future of Medicine: Accessing & Assessing Medical Truth in 2026

September 10th, 2026 | Stanford, CA

As artificial intelligence, digital media, and data-driven systems increasingly shape healthcare, the question of how we access, assess, and trust medical truth has become urgent. This workshop brings together clinicians, researchers, students, educators, and industry innovators to examine how emerging technologies influence what counts as knowledge in medicine, and who gets to decide. Through six lectures from leaders in medical ethics, journalism, and healthcare, participants will explore how AI is reshaping clinical judgment, patient trust, and professional authority, and consider how the field can uphold rigor, transparency, and human values in the future of medicine.

For more than 60 years, Stanford has pioneered research and educated the next generation of AI innovators. Future of Medicine: Accessing & Assessing Medical Truth in 2026 is the third in a series of yearly workshops bringing leading Stanford faculty, collaborators, and other experts together to discuss the implications of rapidly evolving technologies in the field of medicine, and beyond.
